Dear colleagues,

Cardiologia Croatica — the official journal of the Croatian Cardiac Society has been honoured to publish the Abstract Book of the 3rd Dubrovnik Cardiology Highlights, one of the three members of the European Society of Cardiology Update Meetings. Croatian cardiologists are particularly honoured that Croatian Cardiac Society is also involved in the organization as a host cardiac society, and to be a proud member of the European Society of Cardiology — the world leading cardiac society. Therefore, our journal Cardiologia Croatica — as a part of the European Cardiac Society National Journal’s Network serves for the occasion of the 3rd Dubrovnik Cardiology Highlights as a journal publishing original contributions of our attendees in a form of the Abstract Book.

The Dubrovnik Cardiology Highlights started in 2009 as a biannual state-of-the-art cardiology meeting, dedicated primarily to cardiologists and cardiology fellows, but also to some other professionals with a particular interest in cardiovascular medicine. The aim of the Meeting is to give a comprehensive overview of contemporary cardiology, including cutting edges in clinical science as well as to the most recent guidelines and clinical controversies.

The Meeting is organized by the European Society of Cardiology in collaboration with Croatian Cardiac Society, attracting distinguished international Faculty and audience not only from the South Eastern Europe, but also from all over the world. We are very proud that, as in the previous Dubrovnik meetings, among our invited speakers and chairmen there are some most prominent and leading cardiologists in Europe and USA, and also a few “legends” which have made a great personal contribution to the cardiology science and practice during the last few decades. Therefore, to understand the idea of the Meeting, it should be essential first to get an insight into the Programme Book, and then to read the abstracts. To make our Meeting more dynamic and interactive, from the 1st Dubrovnik Meeting held in 2009 to the second Meeting in 2011 and the actual Meeting, we have been inviting our participants to send their abstracts. The abstracts are being presented in the form of moderated posters. The best posters will be awarded at the Closing Session of the Meeting.

I wish you a nice and enjoyable stay in Dubrovnik, hoping the Abstract Book will initiate fruitful discussions and maybe some new ideas for a creative research and collaboration.
